They say I don’t walk
\nThis world with enough
\nStyle or grace.<\/p>\n

Too slow and clumsy
\nTo be any good use to
\nThis human race.<\/p>\n

And given my shoes,
\nThey’d show me how it’s done
\nWith splendiferous panache.<\/p>\n

Here…

\nThey’re a woman’s size
\nTen and one-half.<\/p>\n

Sure, they’ve probably
\nSeen too many
\nMiles.<\/p>\n

Not to mention all
\nThe headaches, heartaches,
\nAnd backaches. <\/p>\n

But, I think they’ll
\nHold out for another one,
\nOr even two. <\/p>\n

That should be enough time
\nTo show me how you’d
\nLive my life better than I do.<\/p>\n

But, when your finished
\nI want them
\nBack!<\/p>\n

Because mixed in with all
\nThose hard times, dead ends
\nAnd fears, <\/p>\n

Are my years of
\nLaughter, smiles, and
\nJoy filled tears.<\/p>\n

Then put your own boots back on
\nAnd remember we’re all just stumbling
\nThrough this world together.<\/p>\n

And before you go and trip another
\nOr throw stones in the path,
\nWalk their mile first. <\/p>\n

“Lord, have mercy…”
