He never really wanted to have kids over to play, so the kid party thing hasn't been an issue. Till this year. He was all about the birthday party this year.

I use to do kid birthday parties for my older son, till he was about ten or eleven. They were the typical american style crap fest: grocery store made cakes -with the obligatory superhero/dinosaur theme- pizza, ice cream.

I did a pretty good job this year. I made gluten free cupcakes and homemade chocolate frosting: dark chocolate chips, grapeseed oil, vanilla extract, and, agave nectar. A sugary still, but chemical free. There was whole milk instead pop or kool-aid, and two really good buddies of his.

He really wanted a pinata for his birthday this year.

Ok. That was simple enough...

…or maybe not.

Tootsie Rolls are one of my no-no-no-no’s.

Those and 7-11 eclairs. 7-11 eclairs are like no other donut I’ve ever had.

They’re evil in a glass case. I don’t know what they put in them, but it creates a near slavish like addiction in my brain.

I can’t even pretend to control those.

Tootsie Rolls I can be around as long as I don’t open any. I’ve been good and resisted. Fortunately the kids are not too candy driven, I keep offering them stuff they do like instead. Soon they will forget and in the trash they’ll go.

I sometimes wonder if my life will be about anything else other than food.

Too much food, too little food, the right food, the wrong food.

Food

Food

Food

It’s stupid that something that should be so simple can get so complicated.
