Throw Open Your Door

Fears, like ghosts only haunt our hearts
And cause us strife when we live
In the shadows –trapped between
What is wrong and what is right.

We close our doors tightly and turn out all the lights.
We fear monsters might be knocking on the other side —
Or maybe hate and scorn and a life full of hopeless plight.
Maybe, or maybe it’s a life full of happiness and delight from which you hide.

But instead you stare at the hands on the clock,
And never open that door,
Never answer that knock.
Life, lived like that, abandons all hope in this world for more.

So, still your frantic heart from imaginary fights.
Stop hiding behind your iron door.
Hope. It always abides in the fresh air and truths bright light.
Just breath deep and calm your troubled mind, then, throw open your door.
