Turn

For today, turn it off.
The fractions, the distractions,
And all those moaning contraptions.

For today, turn it all off!

It’s your choice.
Speak your words for the public,
Dress and wrap them boldly.

Or, speak a lyrical silence.
Your thoughts a private treasure,
To be puzzled out and savored instead.

Yes. That is it. Turn it all off!
Then turn the wheel, and
Take the long way home.

Because it’s not about the fast or slow.
Or the guarantee your life will be
All green lights, all go.

It’s about the laughing and the crying,
The loving and the hating,
The forgiving and the forgetting.

It’s about the living. Everyday.
Until our last breath escapes us.
Take the long way home.
