On Being Non Sequitur

One day I was writing a blog post and trying to decide if I was being random or non sequitur. I was tempted to say non sequitur and realized I wasn’t completely sure of the definition. So I Googled it and decided I was being random. But after reading the non sequitur definition I became aware that it sort of described my communication style.

A few days later I had a realization that I was having a non sequitur moment in a conversation, which led me to another very non sequitur moment of blurting; “THAT was non sequitur, huh?” . Which broke the person into laughter while replying; “Umm, well, yeah!”

I then asked for conformation as to how often I do that. Laughter was the only response. I really wanted to know. Monthly? Weekly? Daily? The reply was; “Is hourly an option?” AND, I think that was the polite response, rather than saying something like; Do you ever open your mouth without being non sequitur?

This would explain why people who don’t know me often have a confused look on there face when talking to me for any length of time. And why it takes me a gazillion hours to write anything beyond two sentences. The editing process is painful for me; punctuation, spelling and grammar are all something I have a tenuous grasp on. Then the making of my own private hell is the 20 page document that is my stream of consciousness I must weed through for a solid point.

I don’t write much of what I want to talk about because it often falls out of the 2-5 sentence range, and into a big editing project. I haven’t decided which is better. To just post my stream of consciousness and let people sort it out for themselves as to what meaning there is. Or to just stick to my 2-5 sentence non-sensical playfulness. But after reading yesterdays post I realize that I am still not proficient enough at any one of my skills to make posts with out serious editing. Which is a problem in that my time is starting to get limited for even making posts to begin with.

So if you’re confused as I develop and expand on what I am doing here, don’t worry most people are, till you really get to know me.
