Nothing heavy duty here, just some pictures from a cool moth day at work.
I got to see a hummingbird moth, it’s a snowberry clearwing hummingbird moth.
I’ve only ever seen one other hummingbird moth and it was very deep red color and much bigger -it really looked like a hummingbird.
Where this one had the same overall shape and motion of the hummingbird moth, it was the size and coloring of a jumbo bumble bee. In fact it was in amongst the bubble bees feeding and I almost didn’t notice him as I walked by.
I kicked myself for not thinking to make a video of it, as they are so nifty to watch. But then I remembered, this is the YouTube and Google age, so here is a little video of this moth on the go.
Here’s a video of the other type of hummingbird moth I’ve seen before. I was really excited to see another one. It had been so long since I had seen that first one, I was beginning to think I made it up in my head!
I’m not sure why, but all the videos I found on hummingbird moths, the soundtracks were really annoying. I pick the two best I could find.
