CF Open WOD#2

I came in to the gym this morning and see a mate lying on the floor panting. Knowing that she just finished WOD #2 there was no question as to how she was. I’ve been there. So I called her name out and said, “Great Job!” even though I didn’t see her at work. She did it and that was more than I had done for the day, so as far as I was concerned, it was a great job. She looked up and asked if I was God calling her out of there. Then we joked along the lines of seeing the tunnel-of-white-light.

Seeing post WOD death and feeling my stiffness I start to regret claiming I’d do the WOD today. I began warming up for my OHS work, then thought; this is stupid to try and OHS when the WOD is snatch. And then I thought my hamstrings will probably be sore for the weekend as it is, so, stupid again to do extra work if I was going to do the WOD. I narrowed it down to rowing intervals and WOD #2 and then calling it good for the day.

Actual:
I used my alternate Rowing Randomizer today:

Me: Coach MG, pick a number between 1-10
MG: 9
Me: 9! (to myself, CRAP!)
Me: Pick a distance between 100m-500m.
MG: 250m
MG: What are you doing?
Me: You are my Rowing Randomizer today.
Me: Pick a rest time between intervals
MG: 1:1
Me:……..
MG:evil cackle
Me:…..me….realizing that this might really suck depending on how hard I attacked it.
Me: That doesn’t really encourage me to row fast and hard, MG.
MG: evil cackle

I was confused at how I was going to keep track of all of this so after the first interval I decided to program the little computer to give me 1 minute rests between intervals. I thought this was brilliant. Till I realized that I was giving myself 1 minute rests between 250m intervals that I was rowing closer to 2 minutes. Had I done it the evil cackling coaches way I would’ve had more rest.

:-/

This is where learning to count with something other than sticks and stones might come in handy someday.

Row:
9x250m with 1:00 rests
#1 1:59.5
#2 1:57.4
#3 1:55.7
#4 1:54.3
#5 2:13.4 -discouraged with my results, this is where I said, “To hell with this; I am taking up Scrapbooking!” put down and picked up the handle a couple different times before I did some weird funky chicken finish. But then I couldn’t get my feet free before my rest timer was finished and it was time to row again.

Stupid Crossfit training my body to just GO when the timer says.

The rest of the intervals were me trying to get it below 2:00 again.
#6 2:05.4
#7 2:03.2
#8 2:01.5
#9 1:59.6

From now on I’m going to stick with the first inception of the Rowing Randomizer.

It is silly enough to keep me amused and doesn’t say crazy things like, 9, and 1:1, making me all confused and do even stupider stuff. And if is ever does, I can just bump it off the table till it doesn’t say 9 and 1:1.

In the end I talked myself out of WOD 2 today and will do it on Sunday with my Powerlifting partner.

The good thing about seeing WOD #2 in action is I am more encouraged about having better results than I first perdicted for myself. A full snatch is very tiring for me and pretty slow too. With it being more of a power snatch I’ll be able to move faster.
